Our brief was to create a contemporary home whilst blending with and retaining the character of this 19th century cottage and to create a viewing room overlooking the Dart estuary.
To overcome Building Regulation restrictions, and a possibility of the Cottage being Listed during the refurbishment, Geoff created a freestanding viewing stage, supported on top of the purpose designed four poster bed. The bed and the alternative tread staircase was made in oak with a structural glass balustrade to enable the light to pass into the open plan dressing area. The hipped roof was then glazed to enable the wonderful views afforded by the platform.
