Barn Conversion to Spiritual Retreat

About This Project

We were approached by a farming family who wanted to bring the three generations of the family back to live in the same house. The farmhouse was extended to provide accommodation for the two daughters families and the design for the conversion of the barns was completed to form a new business opportunity. When Geoff originally approached the local planning department about the conversion of the barn buildings he was told that they would not, in any circumstances approve the conversion.

Geoff however produced a sympathetic design and argued the case for the conversion.
The building has been converted into a spiritual retreat for individuals or groups to stay, relax and have various spiritual treatments or consultations. The centre has proved so successful that we obtained planning permission for a large extension incorporating a gym and a community lounge a few years later.
